Please pray for Burma!!!
Tomorrow (3/8) is global day of prayer for Burma (Myanmar). If you have been following along in these posts you probably remember that our little Muaysai Lilabeth is Burmese. Her parents came over from Myanmar and gave birth to her in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The more I learn about the conflict in Myanmar the more I realize that they were probably fleeing a hostile situation. The Shan and Karenni states form the eastern border of Myanmar (closest to Chiang Mai) and are considered high conflict areas. The religious, ethnic and political divides seem to sow countless deaths while striking fear in the lives of villagers in these areas they are trying to control. This is a feud that has continued for decades and does not seem to be any closer to an end. Please join us in praying for the thousands of people displaced, hurt and killed by the guerrilla warfare there. In 2019 alone 39,000 people were displaced in the Arakan state which borders Bangladesh on the west side of Myanmar. This is an extremely hostile region where over 700,000 Rohingyan refugees have been driven from their homes in Myanmar to the southern part of Bangladesh. The horrific accounts of torture, rape and violence seem unending and it would be easy to lose hope, but many still have hope. What is life if not a series of hopes? Hope: "That feeling of desire and expectation for a certain outcome." Hope in God, hope in family and hope in peace. Here we are in our comfortable homes, many of us nervous about a virus that 99% of our population would easily overcome without medical care. Let's remember that many parts of the world live in a state of fear that we will never truly understand or experience. You might say, but what can I do for Myanmar? Become informed and PRAY; it is a simple thing that can make a difference. Prayer has brought us to finding and pursuing our little Lilabeth. First comes hope, then comes faith that can make that little hope a realization. If you would like to learn more about Myanmar please head over to the "Free Burma Rangers" site. In terms of our adoption process, things are moving along! We just received our Dossier back from the US Dept of State and Thai Embassy in D.C. and we are getting ready to submit it to Holt this week. We have been begun the immigration process for Lilabeth through USCIS and are hoping to hear from them in the next couple weeks. That being said, our timeline as given by our adoption agency still remains about 12 months. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has made its way to Thailand as well and so the Thai government is reducing the amount of days that they review Dossiers over the next couple months. This makes it difficult to estimate when we will be able to go get Lilabeth. So again, we just pray and hope and continue having faith in this journey.
I should also mention that we are so incredibly thankful for all of you who have prayed and/or contributed to help make this whole adoption journey possible. You have helped us raise over $16,000 and we cannot express our gratitude enough. Your support and love throughout this journey is amazing!
Prayer Requests
BURMA! Pray for: (see details above as well)
1) PEACE between the government and ethnic armed forces.
2) FAMILIES that have been displaced; that they would be able to return to their homes and communities to live and work in freedom.
3) PRISONERS (many pastors and journalists) who have not been afforded due process
ADOPTION PROCESS! Pray:
1) That we would be officially matched with Muaysai after our Dossier is submitted.
2) Thai government would find a way to expedite the review process for all the children waiting to be adopted.
3) Muaysai to be deemed a Thai citizen despite her Burmese heritage so that she doesn't become a "court case" which would then draw out the waiting process even more.
Thank you again so much!
